Thank you for looking at the website.
Huw retired as a secondary school headteacher in August 2018, and is now an independent freelance educational consultant, having been in education leadership for over thirty years teaching throughout Wales, England and overseas. This has given him the opportunity to reconnect with photography and reignite a passion started by overseas travel and using film cameras many years ago.
Those were the days of the Canon AE-1 and a wonderful 70 mm to 210 mm zoom lens. Prepaid processed slides and the anxiety of unknown success rates of yet to be developed prints seem light years ago. Digital photography has since then revolutionised the quality and access to image-taking, with shot-taking and post-production editing never being so easy nor so personal.
An appreciation through world travels over the years has reinforced to me the need to dedicate more time to digital capture. I now have the time to do so. I enjoy all aspects of photography, especially event photojournalism, and as a former geography teacher can never resist the lure of a stunning landscape.

Gallery Photos: Clicking on any single numbered gallery photo will open up the extended selection, showing all the associated thumbnails for that gallery. Clicking on any photo in that thumbnail gallery will open the slide show viewer with larger size photos. Some galleries may have well over fifty photos in.
Navigation with the slide viewer will only operate where there is more than one photograph. The file name for each photo is displayed in the slide viewer. Equipment: Canon 1Dxii with Canon 6D back up. Canon lenses range from 16-35 f/4; 24-70 f/2.8; 70-200 f/4 and 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 (with 1.4 extender when required). NISI filters for landscapes. The only exception is the Table Mountain photo shot on a small 5mb Canon Ixus at an opportune passing moment jumping out of a minibus, when stationary, and the odd iPhone fly by for others!
